Otherwise Film Festival
Deconstructing narratives, Constructing Communities and Imagining a World Otherwise.
The OTHERWISE film festival emerges as a pivotal platform that transcends conventional narratives by embracing a comparative and global perspective. By foregrounding marginalized voices and their unique cinematic narratives, OTHERWISE redefines the boundaries of representation in contemporary cinema. This festival serves as a crucible of cultural exploration, where the complexities of our modern world are unraveled through the lenses of specific creators and communities.
By challenging mainstream representations, OTHERWISE fosters a cinematic discourse that empowers and enlightens. It is a nexus where messages, expressions, and reflections converge to offer alternative interpretations of reality—an "OTHERWISE" perspective that critiques and expands upon dominant paradigms.
Mission
The OTHERWISE film festival is dedicated to expanding reflections, representations, and discourses in mainstream media by championing the creative processes of artists and filmmakers. Through a global perspective, we celebrate diverse narratives that challenge conventional norms, offering alternative interpretations and enriching cultural discourse. By fostering local and international networks, we cultivate relationships built on respect, honesty, and reciprocity. Our mission is to provide a platform where marginalized voices thrive, creating impactful dialogues that transcend borders and inspire transformative change in the fields of Media, Film, and Arts.
Community Values
Otherwise Film Festival respects the integrity and intention of the artists, and supports the artistic visions and perspectives of artists working in the media arts. Otherwise pays special attention to community consent and accountability regarding the visual representations in the films. Acknowledgements and compliance with cultural protocols are at the center of fostering good relationships among each other.
